Day six of mixing the PANTECHNICON album, and with Mendocino Redwood in good shape, I moved on to Waiting For Godard (And Wenders). The title of this piece is a reference to some graffiti (Warten Auf Godard) in the background of a shot from my favourite movie, Wim Wenders’ Wings Of Desire, a play on the title of Samuel Beckett’s famous play Waiting For Godot and the name of the French film director Jean-Luc Godard.
The it was on to Six Four Eight Seven Four. The title of this one should be apparent from the extract from the 1968 phone book above! A noisy free-form guitar solo contrasts with Dave Evans’ contemplative Spanish-flavoured piano improvisation.
